Working with suppliers

How we are supporting the East Anglian supply chain

Equinor and partners are leveraging the local supply chain to turbocharge East Anglia’s economy and renewable energy capacity.

A competitive and innovative energy supply chain is essential to create jobs, boost the economy and meet the UK’s net-zero targets.

The Sheringham Shoal and Dudgeon Extensions Project brings with it a wealth of opportunities for businesses of all sizes across a range of disciplines during the development, construction and long-term operational phases.

Responsible development

As responsible developers, our aim is to utilise as many local and UK-based suppliers where reasonably possible during all stages of the development. Local suppliers that the operational Sheringham Shoal and Dudgeon projects have worked with include Stowen Group, PPI Manufacturing and Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore. In 2025, Equinor earned the UK Supply Chain Gold Award from Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) for its outstanding approach to strengthening national supply chain relationships.

East of England Connect Programme

In 2025, Equinor along with ScottishPower Renewables, sponsored the East of England Connect Programme, delivered by Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and supported by Essex County Council, Suffolk County Council and Norfolk Country Council.

Connect was a six month innovation derisking project where companies had the opportunity to engage in a series of training workshops, pitch sessions and bespoke support to deliver technical advice and commercial support. The purpose of Connect was to enable supply chain companies to de-risk their innovation through increasing their understanding of market needs and collaboration across the supply chain.

In order to be eligible, companies had to have a registered office in Essex, Suffolk or Norfolk and have product or services in development applicable to offshore renewables, with the aim of stimulating the local supply chain and creating future jobs in the local area.

The East of England is one of the UK’s largest offshore renewable energy hubs. The region has an established supply chain providing products and services to the sector, but a support need was identified to increase visibility of market needs and provide specialist innovation support to enable growth. This was delivered through the Connect programme.

Equinor has a strategic partnership with Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult covering activities across the UK.
